The success of the company depends to a large extent on the results of each employee. Company history
The laboratory, which would become the Membrapor AG, was founded in Zurich in 1995 and immediately succeeded in developing complex catalytic gas diffusion electrodes of high reproducibility, which are the centerpiece of electrochemical gas sensors.
Mid-1990s a heavy consolidation within the gas sensor market led to the loss of independent sensor suppliers. This development caused discontent among the manufacturers of gas sensing equipment. During that period MEMBRAPOR succeeded in patenting novel gas sensors which proved to be the breakthrough of the still young company.
Already at the beginning of this century gas sensors of the Swiss company were dominant in several applications. In 2003 the production capacity was expanded with a second site. The product range was broadened with additional housing sizes, new measurement ranges and the first 4-electrode sensors.
Due to the continuous growth the capacity limits of the old production site were reached in 2009 and the whole company moved to a larger site in the adjacent Wallisellen. Thanks to constant research efforts new application fields were developed and new global markets were accessed.
In the year 2012 already over 200 distinct gas sensors were available and allowed the detection of 20 different gases. MEMBRAPOR’s gas sensors are used on all continents, in environmental monitoring, personal safety, industrial process control, air quality monitoring or medical applications.
For the 20th anniversary of MEMBRAPOR, the website was completely redesigned in 2015. In the same year, the R&D group was enlarged.
At the beginning of 2017, the operational management was handed over internally to the next generation. The continuity in the company philosophy was thus consistently pursued: Growth from our own resources by focusing on research and development and on the quality of the products.
MEMBRAPOR AG developed, grew steadily and the need for space increased. For the 25th anniversary and in the middle of the Corona pandemic, part of the company was moved to a new building in 2020. This allowed our production to expand and modernize its capacity to meet the increasing demand.

In 2023, we transferred our quality management system into a QM software with integrated process management. The fully digitalized QM system was certified by TÜV SÜD in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. As a result, we increased efficiency and accuracy in meeting quality standards and can continue to guarantee our customers the highest quality.

Warranty Policy
Membrapor AG issues a warranty on all products against defects in workmanship, materials and construction. The warranty does not cover damage caused by wear and failures due to poisoning of the catalyst. Moreover, Membrapor AG is not liable for damages by misuse and improper handling, for modified products and for products applied or stored outside of conditions specified in the data sheets. Any return of claimed goods shall be at the customer’s cost and risk.
The warranty only applies to products purchased directly from Membrapor AG. If you have obtained your product from a reseller or as a device component from an equipment manufacturer, Membrapor AG does not offer a direct warranty service. In this case, please refer to the sales outlet or directly to the equipment manufacturer for any warranty claim.
We investigate any claimed products or services as quickly as possible and advise you whether and how to return claimed goods. The results or the notification whether your claim is warranted, is communicated promptly after the investigation.
