Air quality monitoring
The monitoring of environmental pollutants in the air has developed considerably since the early 2000s. In urban areas in particular, the aim is to protect the population from constant exposure to pollutants. In addition to particulate matter (PM2.5, PM10), this also includes the gases CO, NO, NO2, O3, SO2 and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). There are many legislations worldwide with rigorous limit values (see for example EU 2024/2881).
